The Barbetta Family

"We moved here from northeast Ohio and we searched for almost a year for a home. We must have looked at 30-40 homes and talked to about 8 different home builders. We just could not find the right home for our family and the builders we talked to were only concerned about making a profit anyway they could.

One day as we were driving around a neighborhood we really loved we cam across a home that was for sale by St. James Builders. It was not what we were looking for, but at this point, we were willing to settle for anything. When we walked in we were greeted by Darrell. Darrell told us the home we were in was sold but they could build us a home in 3-4 months. We thought to ourselves, "Oh boy, here we go again, another builder making a bunch of sale promises." He told us us they were willing to help us get the lot we wanted and build us the home of our dreams. When we met the builder, Doug Meyer, he was working in a home he and his sons were finishing up. Doug was working on drywall and painting. We thought to ourselves WOW, you do not see that everyday. We really enjoyed talking to the Meyer family. They explained to us how they were slow due to the housing recession and that they were determined to continue what they loved to do, and that was build homes. We definitely appreciated Doug's honesty and we felt he could not have been a more good hearted and genuine person. After reexamining the year of our ups and downs of our house hunting, we decided that in some way the Lord had led us to St. James Builders and the Meyer family.

Well, here we are 4 months down the line and what can we say, the St. James Building family have been great. When we moved here from Northeast Ohio we were adamant against building because of the inconvenience. This was not the case at all with St. James Builders. It was so easy, and the group kept us informed of what was going on with our home during the whole process. We feel so blessed to have found the Meyer/St. James Builder family. It is hard to imagine that there are people like the St. James family out in the world today, but we have to say it was well worth the long wait to have found them! We cannot say enough good things about St. James Builders. They were there when we needed them the most and we would like to think we came into their lives when they needed us.

Words do not tell you how grateful we are that you have built us such a beautiful, and not just a beautiful home, but a very well built home. As you know, father was a builder in his younger years and he has been impressed by the craftsmanship of the home all along the way. What we can say, a simple thank you for building us this beautiful home, does not seem to be enough. You will always be a part of our home, and Doug, we will think of you every time we look at our fireplace mantel (to have taken the time to make that for us says a lot about you!) We had a great experience with St. James Builders.

May God bless you, our family, and your entire St. James Building Family."

Sincerely
The Barbetta Family

"To whom it may concern,

I am a father, husband and a business owner. My company is in Dayton, OH, but we live in Cincinnati; we always have and probably always will. Up until two years ago I was making the round trip trek from the east side of Cincinnati to Dayton, daily. Between the hard winter of 2008 and the construction traffic we knew we had to move; I was in the dar 2- hours a day, on a good day.

We had lived in our previous house for 10 years. We built that house in the prime of a building boom and had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Before long we started the lists of "things that we wish we had done" and "things that we wouldn't do again". Over those ten years we got to be pretty good at designing that "Dream House" in our heads, from magazine clips, in conversation and scratched on paper.

Well we found the area we liked, the neighborhood we like, but not "that" house.

We had gone through endless models and spoke with all the salesmen. We heard all about how the industry was down and how they could cut us a deal on a market home or one of their spec homes. That wasn't what we wanted; we wanted to build "our" house. We wanted to be a part of the process, tell the builder what we wanted and what we didn't want, change rooms to match our lifestyle and not settle for the cookie cutter home.

Why am I telling you all of this? Because it matters, it matters to me and my family and thankfully it mattered to Doug Meyer.

We walked into Doug Meyer's model home in The Trails of Four Bridges to meet Darrell Rice for the first time. I was impressed his candor and with the overall workmanship and quality of the home and materials used, from the 10" foundation, 3/4" plywood subfloor to the solid hardwood floors; I am one of those guys who know the difference. I explained our circumstances and was surprised to hear Darrell agreeing with all of our desires. He understood that people want the home to be their own. He immediately thought it would be a good idea for us to meet with Doug. He suggested that we bring all of our ideas, drawings and even magazine pictures or our "Dream" house.

Doug, Darrell, and the people of St. James worked with us over the next month to create a design that was "ours". From the street appeal to our family needs to efficiency, we looked at everything. During this process this process they helped us make changes that fit our needs, even in some cases leading us away from what we thought was best to better ideas; don't believe me, come see my kitchen.

You hear people that have built a home say they would never do it again and that they hated the process. Our building process was nothing like that; it was not what we had experienced years earlier. Doug and his sons made the process enjoyable and even educational. Whether they were framing, installing a window, faucet or hardwood floors they enjoyed explaining why they used that type of material or that manufacturer. That's what you get when your builder has that type of experience.

We have been in our home almost a year and are enjoying the comfort, not just of our home but the comfort of knowing we made the right decision.

As for my recommendation, I guess I am living proof, Doug and the guys at St. James are coming back to finish my basement this winter. The decision way easy.

Thanks Doug, Darrell, Jimmy, Kevin and all the others that contributed to out home."

Sincerely,

"To all prospective customers,

After reading the testimonials from our clients, I wanted to talk a little bit about my personal experience working with the Meyer family for more than 15 years. After working in the business for more than 25 years, I made a decision to go with Doug Meyer and his vision to build the area's finest residential homebuilding business in the Greater Cincinnati area.

This process didn't start by accident. It started with a vision and commitment by Doug Meyer to personalize the process, by allowing the customer to be involved in the design process and the selection process, and leading the local homebuilding industry in using the area's best contractors to work with all of our customers. Some of which have been involved with the Meyer family for over 25 years. This says a lot about our company and the way we do business, using the finest building materials in the market today and allowing the customer to utilize the areas finest flooring, cabinetry, electrical and plumbing professionals in the area.

If you are currently thinking about building a new home, please don't pass up the opportunity to work with one of our area's finest builders.
